4to. XX pp, 156 pp. Lacking engraved portrait. Contemporary velum. Inscriptions of various male residents of a 'Casa della Esercizie' in the early 19th century on pastedowns. Second edition (first, 1741). A very rare provincial publication celebrating the life of this noblewoman-turned-Dominican nun. Cleopatra Susanna Monsignani was a countess by birth but revoked her titles upon her entry into the Convent of St Francesca Romana. A good amount of detail is provided on her experience as a novitiate and the trials she faced from demons who attempted to persuade her that this was not her calling in life. Shortly before her death she began to compose her own autobiography, which Bombarda has used here as the basis of his hagiography
