Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sagittal section of light-producing organ of Hawaiian Bobtail Squid, Euprymna scolopes. The organ houses symbiotic Aliivibrio fischeri bacteria. Light is emitted downwards, at night, providing counter-illumination camouflage by matching downwelling light from the ocean surface.
