English: Supposed arms of w:John Hastings, 2nd Earl of Pembroke (1347-1375), according to the Armorial de Gelre, but the quarterings are transposed. The correct form is Hastings quartering Valence, not (as shown here) Valence quartering Hastings. Arms first adopted by w:John Hastings, 2nd Baron Hastings (1287-1325), son of John Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings by his wife Isabel de Valence, daughter and heiress of w:William de Valence, 1st Earl of Pembroke. The son of John Hastings, 2nd Baron Hastings was w:Laurence Hastings, 1st Earl of Pembroke (1319-1348) |
