Description
English: Limburg, Lahn river, Germany: View over the square "Bischofsplatz" and into the street "Barfüßerstraße" at the right end of the picture. Especially remarkable is the house Bischofsplatz 9 at the corner between Bischofsplatz and Barfüßerstraße, which was constructed on an area of 18 square meters only. Its facade was built in the 17th century, however the core of the builing originates from an earlier time. On the left of this house, Bischofsplatz 7, follows a timbered house from the 15th century, which was however modernized stepwise later. The next house to the left, Bischofsplatz 7, was mostly renewed in the 19th century, however the basement vault and its massive back wall could still originate from medieval times. Also the history of Bischofsplatz 3 on the far left of the image reaches back to the middle ages.
Deutsch: Limburg an der Lahn: Blick vom Portal der katholischen Stadtkirche aus über den Bischofsplatz und in die Barfüßerstraße am rechten Bildrand. Besonders bemerkenswert ist das auf nur 18 Quadratmeter Grundfläche errichtete Haus Bischofsplatz 9 an der Ecke Bischofsplatz/Barfüßerstraße mit Fassade aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, aber älterem Kern. Links daneben das Fachwerkhaus Bischofsplatz 7, ursprünglich aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, jedoch später schrittweise modernisiert. Das als nächstes links folgende Haus Bischofsplatz 5 ohne Geschossüberstände wurde offenbar fast vollständig im 19. Jahrhundert erneuert, Kellergewölbe und Rückwand könnten jedoch noch aus dem Mittelalter stammen. Auch die Geschichte des Hauses Bischofsplatz 3 ganz links geht im Kern noch auf das Mittelalter zurück.
