Deutsch: Die Eichen wurden durch einen Bindermeister zu Dauben gespalten und die Rohlinge mit einem Breitbeil fein nachgearbeitet. Die fertigen Dauben wurden anschließend zu dem sogenannten „Daubenkasten“ aufgeschichtet, sodass das Holz austrocknen konnte. Man legte dabei zwei Dauben in gleicher Richtung, die beiden nächsten über Kreuz usw. auf. Diese Holzstapel erreichten dabei eine Höhe bis zu drei Meter. Da diese Anordnung der Dauben für gute Belüftung sorgte, trocknete das Holz sehr gut. Bis zur Verarbeitung der Dauben durch einen Fassbinder standen diese Daubenkasten über Jahre in der Nähe der Häuser. Manche Daubenkästen überschritten die Höhe von drei Meter. |
