A dark brown beetle fossil on pale tan stone.

Because of their glossy irridescent colors, members of the family Buprestidae are known as jewel beetles or metallic wood-boring beetles, such as the emerald ash borer. The beetle is 3.5 cm long. Catalog number FOBU11699.
