BEELDHOUWER JACOB MARIS LEGT DE LAATSTE HAND AAN HET AIRBORNE - MONUMENT; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 35 uit 1947.; In Oosterbeek is een elf meter hoge herdenkingszuil opgericht ter herinnering aan de luchtlandingen van 1944 bij Arnhem (shot ext.) Op de top daarvan zal, ter nagedachtenis van de daarbij gesneuvelden, nog een monument worden geplaatst. De Nederlandse beeldhouwer Jacob Maris werkt in de tuin van zijn atelier in Heumen met twee assistenten aan de afwerking van dit monument (cu). Ze gebruiken daarbij pneumatische beitels.
