Español: Ponente: José Manuel Carmona Martínez, Profesor Titular del Departamento de Física Teórica de la Universidad de Zaragoza. Presenta y modera: Luis Joaquín Boya, Profesor emérito de la Universidad de Zaragoza y miembro del Senatus Científico de la Facultad de Ciencias. La detección de ondas gravitacionales, anunciada por la colaboración LIGO, supone un hito tecnológico y científico comparable quizás al momento en el que Galileo usó un telescopio por vez primera para contemplar el cosmos. En esta charla se explica qué se ha conseguido, cómo se ha logrado, y por qué supone el inicio de una nueva era en la exploración y en la comprensión del universo.
