Low-relief plaster panel, circa 1772-86, showing an heraldic shield surrounded by an antique trophy of arms displaying the coat of arms of Sir Thomas Fowke (died 1786) of Lowesby Hall in Leicestershire, knighted in 1779, Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant, Groom of the Bedchamber to the Duke of Cumberland, brother of King George III. On 12th August 1772 he married Anne Wollaston one of the two sisters and co-heiresses of Sir Isaac Lawrence Wollaston, 3rd Baronet (died 1756) of Lowesby Hall. His son was Sir Frederick Gustavus Fowke, 1st Baronet (1782–1856) of Lowesby Hall. Latin motto: Arma Tuentur Pacem, "arms safeguard peace". Provenance unknown, possibly originally at Lowesby Hall.
