In order to obtain an effective discriminant between earthquakes and explosions, techniques which originally had been developed for acoustic signal processing have been applied to seismic data. These techniques include Fourier analysis and related applications software as well as interactive graphics displays of the data. A numeric has been obtained which may provide a useful discriminant between earthquakes and explosions. In conjunction with this investigation, a large amount of seismic data has been consolidated. These data are discussed. (Author)
