Summary[edit]
DescriptionAn autofluorescence of the seed coat (testa) of root parasitic purple weed (Striga hermonthica (Delile) Benth.).tif |
English: Striga species are obligate hemiparasitic plants included in the list of devastating pests parasitizing such major monocotyledonous crops as sorghum, rice, maize, pearl millet, and sugar cane in Sub-Saharan Africa. The image was documented with a Zeiss 710 confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) platform (Carl Zeiss, Germany) equipped with a digital microscope camera AxioCam HR and objective Plan-Apochromat 20x/0.8 (WD=0.55mm). The first three images were obtained using three lasers with different wavelengths, and the last is the overlay of the previous three images. The summed image represents the maximum intensity projection of Z-stacks series reconstructed in Zeiss Zen Blue 2012 software. Scale bar: 50 μm. |
