Afrikaans: Ons woon al 3 jaar in Johannesburg, Suid-Afrika, maar dit was nou tyd om terug te keer Europa toe. Ons het nie huis toe gegaan nie want Esther het 'n werkaanbod in Nederland gekry waar ons ook vir 'n paar jaar baie gelukkig was. Een van die eerste plekke wat ons met ons aankoms in SA besoek het, was hierdie pragtige strand, Umhlanga Rocks genaamd, net 'n paar kilometer langs die kus op van Durban af. Op pad terug van Ballitobaai het ons gestop om dit nog 'n laaste keer te besoek. Soos duidelik is het ek met die rotse kennis gemaak. Nie te veel skade is deur enige party gely nie, maar toe my dogter 'n foto van my wou neem, het ek besluit om ter wille van simpatie toneel te speel. Toe ons van rol verander het sy besluit om 'n grappie te maak. Baie snaakse jong dame. Na so 'n heerlike dag het ons in die donker die 400 myl terug na Johannesburg gery. Goed as jou motor nie onklaar raak nie.
English: We had been living in Johannesburg, South Africa for 3 years but it was now time to return to Europe. We did not go home as Esther got a contract in the Netherlands where we were also very happy for a couple of years. One of the first places we had visited on arrival in SA was this beautiful beach situated just a few miles along the coast from Durban called Umhlanga Rocks (it's Zulu and pronounced Oom-Schlanger) and on our way back from Ballito Bay we stopped off to pay it one last visit. As you can see me and its rocks collided. Not too much damage was suffered by either party but when my daughter wanted to take a picture of me I decided to make a play for the sympathy vote. When we changed roles she decided to take the mickey out of me. Very funny young lady. Such a lovely day we drove the 400 miles back to Jo'burg in the dark. Fine if you don't break down. |
