Title
DER JUNGE RHEIN (The Young Rhine)
Description
The sculpture, a personification of the Rhine, is a homage to the Rhine River, which is still young in the Rhine Valley. The work, Wider's birthday present to the 100-year-old community and placed in front of the community hall, is also a reminder of the floods when the Rhine was still a curse and a blessing. The breakthroughs in the waving robe of the river personification can also be interpreted as breakthroughs in the Rhine dams.
