Description
English: Municipal Tramways Trust Type F1 tram no. 279 at the Henley Extension terminus in Seaview Road (at the intersection with Marlborough Street), Henley North, South Australia, about 1950. On arrival the tram's conductor has raised the trolley pole visible in the photo and may well have finished lowering the pole at the other end for the return journey to Adelaide. There were 84 of this type of tram -- the most numerous in Adelaide. They were a highly successful design with good access for fast loading, serving for 36 years before Adelaide's street tramways were closed in 1958.
