Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy G.176.39 bound in early sprinkled leather (calf or sheep) rebacked in brown goatskin. Red and black spine labels from earlier binding retained. Engraved portrait of Shakespeare by Hall laid-on to the front flyleaf verso. "Second edition" inscribed on title page. Early/contemporary manuscript character list on title page verso. Autograph of "John Crump" at head of A2 recto. Stamped armorial bookplate with the motto "Nec ab ordine cedunt" (arms and motto of the Buckworth family of Cley, Norfolk) on front pastedown. Armorial bookplate of the Barton Library on rear pastedown. Edges trimmed closely, with some losses to signatures and catchwords.
Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy G.176.40 bound in 19th-century blue goatskin paneled in gilt. Armorial bookplate of the Barton Library. Autograph of Frances Wolfreston on A2 recto, with inscription in her hand: "a very prity mery one of a […?] begar found by a lord who persuaded him he was a lord, and this play was playd befor his new lordship". Early/contemporary inscription on I4. This copy measures 21 cm. Many edges untrimmed. Upper margin of title page repaired.
