Description
English: An imaginary view of a galley off a Mediterranean port, framed by a decorative ruined arch on the far right. There are people on the quay and several small craft in the water. There is a tall statue on the quay and more ships can be seen beyond in the harbour. The artist had some knowledge of Mediterranean ports and a large part of his output consists of such imaginary scenes with several galleys. Castro was a Flemish painter of Portugese extraction and master of the Antwerp Guild of St Luke in 1664-65. His first name sometimes appears as 'Laureys'.
