Summary[edit]

Description
English: Since it opened in 2009, Central Link Light Rail has only regularly operated single or 2-car trains, largely because the capacity wasn't needed, and the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel won't have space to turn around a 3 or 4-car consist until 2016. However, when an estimated 700,000 Seahawks Fans descended on Downtown Seattle to celebrate our first Superbowl win, capacity was critical. With fans being turned away by full trains, and massive crowds on platforms, Sound Transit put several 3 and 4 car consists into service between Stadium Station and SeaTac Airport in an unprecedented attempt to handle the load.
