Description
English: The Pretty Garden House in Petty France, No 19, York Street, Westminster, where Milton resided. Illustration for The Graphic, 24 February 1877.
reference The back of no 19 York Street (1848). John Milton lived in the "pretty garden-house" in Petty France, Westminster. It afterwards became No. 19 York Street, for at time it belonged to Jeremy Bentham, and was occupied at different times by James Mill and John Stuart Mill, Jeremy Bentham and William Hazlitt before being demolished in 1877
