| Description |
English: Space-fill drawings of Cas (CRISPR-associated) proteins of the CRISPR bacterial immune system. At left is a complex of the Cas1 and Cas2 proteins which cleave the right length guide pieces of RNA from an initial virus infection for storage in the CRISPR genomic archive. At right is Cas3, the "executioner" enzyme that chops up the invading DNA from a later invasion of the same virus, when it has been recognized by the Cascade complex.
