Summary[edit]
Description-2019-09-21 Vauxhall Bridge, Great Yarmouth.jpg |
English: The Vauxhall bridge in the town of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. The Grade 2 listed Vauxhall Bridge is a twin-track railway and footpath bridge over the River Bure dating from about 1850, with a strengthened and footpath section added in about. 1900. The original parts are wrought-iron with additions of steel and rusticated stone abutments. Construction in the form of three c1900 bow-spring lattice girders and suspension rods carrying three c1850 longitudinal beams. A lower bow-spring supports the footpath addition. The bridge was originally authorised by the Norfolk Railway (Yarmouth Extension) in October 1847 and after strengthening it carried rail and tram traffic and pedestrians. The bridge is described as a rare survival of a wrought-iron railway bridge with significant early steel strengthening. |
