Summary[edit]
Description-2007-09-07 The south facing elevation, St John the Baptist church, Trimingham, Norfolk.jpg |
English: The south facing elevation of the parish church of Saint John the baptist’s Head in the village of Trimingham, Norfolk, England. The unique dedication is believed to be due to the fact the church pretended to own the head of John the Baptist to encourage pilgrims to visit. All they had was an alabaster replica. There are many such examples of churches pretending to have various relics and iconic possessions to fraudulently encourage pilgrims to come and part with their money. |
