Summary

Description
English: Ciliate is pre-fed with colored yeast, which makes it easy to detect digestive vacuoles. With such an increase, you can examine details of the cell structure. In a side of the infusoria, a large vegetative nucleus (macronucleus) is clearly visible - this genus of infusorium has it in a bean-shaped form. The macronucleus is a physiologically active nucleus that is involved in almost all of infusoria's vital processes. A small ball placed close to it is a small generative nucleus (micronucleus). It is active mainly during infusoria's sexual process (conjugation). You can also notice digestive vacuoles with colored yeast inside, contractile vacuoles, cell mouth (cytostome), rows of cilium on the cell surface. Moreover, there are protective organelles (trichocysts) in the form of sticks located perpendicular to the membrane inside the cell.
English: Ciliate of the genus Paramecium is flattened with glass.
