English: 'Bacchus's and Cupid's Vintage'

'Bacchus's and Cupid's Vintage' by James Godby after Friedrich Rehberg. A young Bacchus is teaching Cupid how to tread grapes in a sculpted trough? decorated with lions' heads from which wine is pouring.

Cupid's attributes are abandoned in the foreground. Nymphs holding baskets of fruits are dancing in the background.

Below the image is printed a passage from the Odes of Anacreon, a Greek poet famous for his baccanalian lyrics.
