Description |
English: 'Ah! the Navy arn't what it was!' (Greenwich Pensioners) Two Greenwich Pensioners lamenting changing times and standards. The one on the left is in right profile with his hands behind his back, has a peg-leg right leg and a shade under his hat band presumably covering the socket of a missing right eye. The one on the right, in back view, leans on a stick in his left hand: the other arm is missing at the shoulder. Both wear blue Greenwich Hospital uniform jackets and breeches, grey stockings and cocked hats. A balustrade similar to that in the Hospital colonnades is lightly sketched in the background. |
