Description

Here's a really nice march rag from an otherwise unknown composer from Indiana who self-published it in 1912. There are a few printing mistakes which I've corrected so it plays as was intended, mostly missing accidentals and ties. But it goes to show what a talented individual working on their own could produce even then. The original score found its way into the collection at Indiana University which is online available to all.

Score #78 in my current ongoing series "Women Ragtime Composers".

Original score source was from Indiana University at this link (copy/paste entire URL): http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/inharmony/detail.do?action=detail &fullItemID=/ism/sheetmusic/ism-71.998.58.1533

If you're looking for a downloadable copy of the original, you can purchase it for a small fee from musicaneo.com: https://www.musicaneo.com/sheetmusic/sm-75731_that_captivating_rag_for_piano.html

This is a reproduction of the original score with a number of corrections made. Changed measure 17 to match the pattern of measure 9; added ties at measures 45, 53, 61 and 69. Added missing accidentals in a number of places in the C strain. Changed the third RH chord at measure 27 to an eighth. Changed the second RH chord bottom note to C# at measure 59.
