Siehe dazu allerdings: Parshall P. IMAGO CONTRAFACTA: Images and Facts in the Northern Renaissance // Art History. Vol. 16, No 4, December, 1993. P. 554–579. (Volltext in russischer Übersetzung)), welcher unter Verweis auf B. Weber (Weber B. Wunderzeichen und Winkeldrucker, 1543 – 1586. Zürich, 1972. P. 70. Nt. 7, PAS II 5 / 8; Weber B. Inabsoluti hominis historia persequenda.
Meta information concerning size, materials, printing technique, etc.
  • Would it be possible to include information about the size of the prints in the meta data that is provided by the ZB? (This goes also for other information that cannot be easily guessed without having access to the original work. I was spontaneously thinking of the materials used, the printing technique as well as the collection the print belongs to. I'm however no expert, so I don't really know to what extent experts would be able to identify materials and printing technique solely on the basis of a high resolution scan.) To give a concrete example: A size indication of the "Nordbahn" Print would give some indication as to whether the print was used as a poster or rather as a leaflet... Update: This information is included in the metadata provided by Zentralbibliothek Zürich in MARC21 format. We are working on improving the script that uploads the metadata to Commons. Beat Estermann (talk) 19:12, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Year of creation
Update: According to Mr Hesse from ZB, a date in square brackets means that the date has been deduced; there is no hard proof. Beat Estermann (talk) 11:24, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Derivative works

How should we upload, link and categorize derivative works? - To illustrate the article "Protestant Reformers" I have used a cropped version of this picture. - Issues/questions encountered:

  • Should I add another version to the existing picture (overwriting the previous one) or should I upload the cropped version as a separate file? - I opted for the second alternative; the problem with this is that we would theoretically have to copy all the metadata from the original file (there seems to be no way of transcluding the metadata), but having metadata about one and the same picture in various places really doesn't make any sense to me.
  • Should I add the category "Media_contributed_by_Zentralbibliothek_Zürich" to the cropped version of the picture? Or is this category reserved for the original versions only? (In either case this will screw up the statistics: either uploaded pictures are counted twice or we don't count the instances where derivative versions of the uploaded pictures have been used.)
