Wiki Science Competition 2019 in Russia

Hello! Please stop displaying the banner on the Russian Wikipedia, the competition in Russia has already been held in May-April 2019. Now the competition in Russia does not pass, but there is a banner :) JukoFF (talk) 18:33, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

JukoFF it's clearly written in this page it has stopped. it's also written constantly in our social media campaign when we use Russian images. Also, we never requested it there on meta. We never requested generic central notice everywhere.

I suppose it's just complicated to exclude a country.

That's why we try our best to concentrate in one defined period despite all differences and needs. However, if the upload is not working, I am quite sure people can figure out , while they might be informed in any case of the competition in active in other countries (research group have international cooperation). To be honest, nobody replied so I have no clue WHO did this. Last time the gave us part of the countries here and there and in 2019 they are giving us the whole word. Really, no clue.--Alexmar983 (talk) 22:36, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Accidentally in wrong category

A video I uploaded today was categorized in the wrong category, and I am unable to fix it. The video is File:Caribbean Reef Squid Encounter.webm and it was uploaded to the Category Images from Wiki Science Competition 2019 in the United States. I added the category category:Non-photographic media from Wiki Science Competition 2019 to the file since it is a video rather than an image but I'm a bit confused as to where I should actually enter or how to fix the screw-up. ^Atsme _Talk 📧 20:51, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

@Atsme: No problem - it's easily fixed. The non-photographic category is totally fine for video files (as well as things like x-ray images or simulations). However I'd suggest an alternative category for this one could be Category:Wildlife and nature images from Wiki Science Competition 2019. If you click this edit link, you should be able to see the categories that the page is in at the bottom. You can either edit that directly or ask here and we can edit the category. Hope that helps.
