CentralNotice for WLM Ghana 2019[edit]

user:Romaine Please help me activate CentralNotice for Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in Ghana. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahadusadik (talk • contribs) 01:39, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shahadusadik, In Ghana a banner is active that asks people to join the photo contest Wiki Loves Monuments. The banner links to the page you linked. When you wrote your message it was before midnight in your country, do you see the banner now? Romaine (talk) 11:49, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello all, especially Romaine. For some reason, for Brazilians the WLM banner that pops up on pt.wikipedia is the text written for Portugal. We have a text for Brazil (ISO code = pt-br). Could you please take a look? Thanks a lot. --Joalpe (talk) 11:16, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am aware of it. This is a result of the bug mentioned two headers up. Romaine (talk) 11:18, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Romaine: this is a different issue. The Portuguese translation is Portugal-specific. Effeietsanders (talk) 11:27, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Effeietsanders and Romaine: The following text would serve both Brazilian and Portuguese readers: Wiki Loves Monuments: Participe do maior concurso fotográfico do mundo enviando suas imagens e ajude na preservação da nossa cultura! Should I change it on the table? --Joalpe (talk) 11:30, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Because of the bug that occurred last night some country specific things have been disabled, while some others could not be implemented yet. This one is one of them, the text should have been overwritten. I know what the situation is Brazilian Portuguese as we had to apply this in previous years as well. To solve the issue for the moment, the text you mentioned is now implemented. Romaine (talk) 11:46, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Effeietsanders, Romaine, and Joalpe: Can you please change the text to add the bit about the prizes? It is very important: "Wiki Loves Monuments: Participe do maior concurso fotográfico do mundo enviando suas imagens, e ajude na preservação da nossa cultura. As melhores fotos serão premiadas!" The text serves both pt-eu and pt-br.-- Darwin Ahoy! 15:49, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Effeietsanders, Romaine, and DarwIn: Great proposal, DarwIn. This should solve all aspects of the Portuguese issue -- could you please make the change? Thanks all! Yesterday, 12 Wikimedians "occupied" a city nearby known for its cultural heritage in Brazil. This should lead to over a 1,000 pics to be uploaded :) Cheers! --Joalpe (talk) 16:24, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DarwIn, The banner should now show again the Portuguese text. Please check/confirm. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 11:19, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Joalpe; The banner should now show the Brazilian Portuguese on the Portuguese Wikipedia when someone is in Brazil. Please check/confirm. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 11:19, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
2x: due a bug this has been disabled again. :-( Romaine (talk) 11:36, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Romaine: Is it possible to change it to: "Wiki Loves Monuments: Participe do maior concurso fotográfico do mundo enviando suas imagens, e ajude na preservação da nossa cultura. As melhores fotos serão premiadas!" ?-- Darwin Ahoy! 11:55, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DarwIn & Joalpe, Because of ongoing technical difficulties I have created a separate banner for Portugal and one for Brazil. It should now show the right text and link. Please check. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 12:20, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please, change wlm CentralNotice on euwiki to our contest page[edit]

Hello,

The CentralNotice message on euwiki points to the Spanish contest, but it shouldn't. It should point to our contest page, as filled in the templates. Thanks! (@Romaine: )

Theklan (talk) 12:37, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theklan, Due a bug mentioned three headers up I can't fix this right now, but I have it on my list and I hope to have this solved later today. Romaine (talk) 12:41, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! You are the best! -Theklan (talk) 13:39, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Theklan, The relative simple request of linking to your landing page might have caused a bug elsewhere around the world. For that reason I have split up the banner for France and Spain into a separate one. Hopefully the URL now is linking to the Basque landing page when people have Basque as language (or anonymous on Basque Wikipedia). Please check! Romaine (talk) 11:16, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We broke the world! Great! -Theklan (talk) 13:36, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Issue with central notice for Italy[edit]

@Romaine: we just noticed a problem with the landing page of the central notice: it lands here [1] and should land here [2] as written in Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2019/Landing_pages. Yesterday it worked fine, I don't know what happened, can you help us? --Marta Arosio (WMIT) (talk) 11:09, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Marta Arosio (WMIT), The thing that probably caused this has been fixed a minute ago, please check now again if the problem keeps existing. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 11:13, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Romaine: , nothing changed apparently. :-( --Marta Arosio (WMIT) (talk) 11:31, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have put back the version of the banner from yesterday afternoon. Hopefully this solves the issue. Romaine (talk) 11:35, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yep! Thanks! :-D --Marta Arosio (WMIT) (talk) 11:40, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

central Notice modification[edit]

@Romaine: Hi we are waiting to make changes that we requested the central notice concerning algeria. --Bachounda (talk) 08:44, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bachounda, Sorry for the delay! There is a bug in the banner we use for WLM, which pups up unexpectedly, but even after multiple times having asked for it to look into it this still has not happened. Instead I created a separate banner for Algeria with the flag on the right and different text. If there are any issues, please let me know! Greetings - Romaine (talk) 06:17, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Romaine: Thanks for the update it working fine only for the desktop. can you check why it's not working for smartphones ? --Bachounda (talk) 14:40, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bachounda, Checking into the banner I see no reason why that would be the case. The banner has been enabled for all devices, including smartphones. Usually issues like this with the CentralNotice are caused by cookies on devices. Perhaps deleting them might solve the issue? Also notice that if you have been with a device connecting to the internet in another country, this might cause that the banner is not shown or shown differently. So far I know deleting cookies usually solves this. Romaine (talk) 13:52, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Silesian correction[edit]

Hi, I corrected the Silesian notice on the 31st of August but the horrible one is still showing up on the Silesian Wikipedia. Is there something wrong or am I just being too impatient? --Uostofchuodnego (talk) 20:42, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was simply missed given all that was going on. @Romaine: . Effeietsanders (talk) 19:38, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, thanks for the info. @Romaine: , could we also add the Learn more in Silesian? That would be Dalsze informacyje. Thank you! --Uostofchuodnego (talk) 22:21, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Uostofchuodnego, thank you for the feedback! Sorry for the delay, I am on vacation. Both Silesian texts have been implemented now. Romaine (talk) 05:44, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, no worries! Everything looks great now. Thank you! --Uostofchuodnego (talk) 10:16, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Romaine, I hope everything goes well in your life. I wonder if you can give us a hand taking a look at the Central Notice for WLM Bolivia 2019.
