Seems that in addition to subpage messages there should be parent messages too (or the message in English could be there?) as otherwise all other interface languages without subpages have no place to fall back. E.g. for wlm-pl next to ID field a parent message is shown for any language without its subpage and wlm-nl with no parent message, say using Finnish interface, only shows a red asterisk at the same spot. 90.190.114.172 19:30, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

As I understand it, in this specific case the fallback option is always /en . Just make sure that there is always a /en, and all will be fine. When there's not, just use the /xx and copy that temporarily into /en. Effeietsanders (talk) 19:45, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Not sure. Checking again, wlm-nl using Finnish interface falls back to English subpage. But wlm-se, though having en-subpage too, doesn't fall back to that using other interface languages and shows only a red asterisk. Also wlm-pt, though having a parent message as wlm-pl has, shows only a red asterisk unless using Portuguese interface. Check the configuration of the field "ID field label text". If the language page does not exist, it defaults to this field. --V.Riullop (talk) 20:30, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
