Timeline[edit]

Hi, what is the timeline? 1st July to August 31th 2020. or 1st August to August 31th? I think there is an inconsistency in the rules... --Elisardojm (talk) 10:40, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Elisardojm, we updated the timeline last month but somehow this page was not updated due to an error. The time is from 1 August - 30 September for this campaign with the WLF contest. Thanks *β€’.ΒΈβ™‘ β„π•’π•£π••π•’π•£π•€π•™π•’π•Ÿ π”Ήπ•–π•Ÿπ•šπ•‘π•’π• β™‘ΒΈ.β€’*π•‹π•’π•π•œ 11:32, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Benipal hardarshan, I don't agree, it is not appropriate to change the rules of a contest during its realization, and even it's less admissible to change them when it has already finished. Nor is it reasonable to change the prizes that were established at the beginning of the contest. I don't understand what is intended to be done and I am deeply displeased. --Elisardojm (talk) 20:16, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Benipal hardarshan, I'm waiting for an explanation to this modification of the contest rules.--Elisardojm (talk) 14:44, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dugal harpreet[edit]

@Wikilover90: please take a look at Special:CentralAuth/Dugal_harpreet: the user Dugal harpreet added tons of barely related pictures with machine-translated captions to many wikis. It is a direct consequence of this contest. Who is going to revert his "contribution"? Wikisaurus (talk) 19:47, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of results of Wiki Loves Folklore 2020/Illustrate Wikipedia articles[edit]

Hi, I would like to know which are the final winners of this contest in each category and a list of their editions as it has been done in Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos. I have received an email from user:Benipal hardarshan with two Amazon coupons but I have not assigned myself because the activity results cannot be verified. I have contacted Benipal hardarshan several days ago to request this information but I have not received any response, I would like this lack of information to be solved as quickly as possible. Thank you, Elisardojm (talk) 18:25, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I request the results data of this contest again, I have not found them and I think they should be published so that the whole community can verify them. It is not clear to me which users are in charge of this activity, I will leave notices of this request to users Benipal hardarshan and Wikilover90 on their discussion pages and I hope they can respond to me. It's been a long time since the end of this contest and I still have no response. If this problem is not resolved I will have to notify the Wikimedia Foundation so they can check what is happening.--Elisardojm (talk) 09:25, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Elisardojm sorry for the delay to update the results but you can now find all that in this section Results for the campaign. Thank you for your patience. Icem4k πŸ€—βœŒ (talk) 16:58, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information Icem4k, but I do not agree with the results. There are two problems: as indicated in the rules of this contest, "Include the hashtag #WPWP and #WPWPWLF</> in the edit summary of all articles improved with images.", but the first three classified have not complied with it since they have only added the WLF hashtag so these editions should not be counted. On the other hand, initially the contest ended on August 31, but on September 10, after the participation period had ended, Benipal hardarshan modified the duration to end on September 31, and it is in this month that, also, the first classified made all their editions. These two problems I think need a more in-depth review to determine possible errors in the results list. Elisardojm (talk) 17:10, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, ping Elisardojm. Thank you for the follow-up!
  1. We included the #WLF and #WPWPWLF but it seems like someone changed it to #WPWP and #WPWPWLF and we did not notice that. We will ensure page protection for our project page next time after the campaign starts to improve this. However, on the English Wikipedia project page where you participated, the #WLF is still there. Since it was the first time Community participated in such a campaign, many people made mistakes in adding the right hashtags since the process was new to them. So we have included both these hashtags for the participants. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Loves_Folklore_2020/Illustrate_Wikipedia_articles
  2. We are sorry that timeline extension seems to be not agreeable to you but we tried to be clear in communicating the possibility through the FAQ, organizers reserve the right to modify these rules of the contest at their discretion, even after it has started, and that includes, an extension of the project to another month. And the extension was clarified on 15 August on English Wikipedia. It seems that Hardarshan also tried explaining that he updated the meta page but due to some technical difficulty his edit didn't get saved but he updated the same later again and mentioned the same on the talk page in his discussion with you. Overall I think these are good points to be considerate about, especially concerning page lock on the project page during the campaign and special notification on the main page or talk when there is an extension in campaign dates. We had good learning from this pilot and we will certainly be bringing learning in the next iteration. Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the time and thought you have brought to the discussion. Warmly. --Icem4k πŸ€—βœŒ (talk) 10:08, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Icem4k, This contest has really been a failure. It has three pages with different information in each one, in meta, in enwiki and in Commons. Even the meta page indicates that the contest ends on August 31st.
I understand that the organization can change the rules of the contest, but extending its duration after the end of the contest seems to me an abuse of that rule.
I am very upset with this whole process and I feel cheated. Elisardojm (talk) 10:04, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Elisardojm, we are sorry you feel this way. We have tried to explain that we changed and updated the date on 15th August check here which was in the middle of the contest on the request of multiple requests from people who wanted more time for training on how to use images since our contest started on 1 August. We will ensure that we broadcast the updates about changes more explicitly on different channels but for now, we can only offer to improve in future. We will take your feedback in kind. Sincerely, Icem4k πŸ€—βœŒ (talk) 15:35, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
