Bootstrapping

[edit]

How do we bootstrap this? Perhaps... we need one admin on commons who is already validated on another project (or perhaps on Meta) to be the first verified administrator and to verify a few others, I think. ++Lar: t/c 16:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That would work. We have User:Yonatanh listed on the en.wp list and he is active on IRC. If we start with him, we could get most of the active members of the other projects verified here relatively quickly. Of course, we should have more Commons admins verified - but the initial bootstrapping could be done by him.--Nilfanion 20:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
An alternative is to use a similar procedure as was used for POTY. That is get the verified users to confirm on the wiki they are verified that they are the Commons user of the same name. The combination of the two should cover it.--Nilfanion 20:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
