User feedback[edit]

  •  Comment, not sure if the talk page is the page to leave feedback, but personally I don't see anything wrong with it, I wouldn't disagree with any of the points on it and fail to see why anyone would. Largely my issue comes from interpretation by individuals, but that is literally always an issue regardless of what's written as any vague wording could be misinterpreted. Personally I'd say to add more content emphasising discussion and collaboration, but how those things are done also differs from project to project, so the vague wording is probably necessary for the 900+ Wikimedia websites. In case this will get misinterpreted, I  Support the current draft, though I've always been weary of "global" policies as it usually gives one project the power to force other projects to exclude contributors, but that's not really a discussion for here. I don't really see how these are different from the Terms of Service, but I wouldn't want any users getting WMF banned over breaking them, unless it's of course chronic or most serious in nature. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 17:56, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Donald Trung: Thank you for your feedback. It's not a problem that you provided your feedback here on the talk page. But I would request you to move your feedback to the main discussion page. So it will have a better chance to be seen by the community members and will encourage others to step in as well. Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 09:18, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'll probably write something new there, as I would rather put something more coherent and on-point there. Though a general lack of time plagues me as always, which is why I tend to avoid engaging in these kinds of discussions. But good luck with the proposal, morally agree with it, but I prefer for this to be "a cushion" users can softly land on, rather than "a hammer" that will punish people as many of these well-intentioned rules often devolve into. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 10:00, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Donald Trung: Thanks in advance for your on-point insights! I will look forward to it. Let me know if you have any questions. Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 11:09, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Donald Trung: Thanks for opening up this discussion which I just discovered earlier today. I also very much like the gist of this new Universal Code of Conduct which I understand will only be fully implemented in 2030. Unlike you, I believe such a document is:
  • Absolutely required
  • Is spelling out some priniciples currently not supported even by the English Wikipedia, which (I think?) is the flagship of this global collection of wmf wikis
I think you may be jumping to a premature conclusion when you say you fail to see why anyone would object this document. For example did you know that there are some wmf-wikis that are openly opposed to the Assumption of Good Faith and will have no qualms telling that if you ask on their Village Pump/ Water cooler/Colloquiem, or what have you?
I personally don't find the wording is vague - it conveys (all?) the basic principles required in order to run an enlightened and healthy community. I certainly do not want this document to be bogged down by details like the maze of rules now governing the English Wikipedia where it is easy to lose the forest for the trees. I view this global Code of Conduct as a constitution that all constituent wikis should follow when their own policies or guidelines are either silent or in conflict with it.

Vandalism?[edit]

Is anyone else seeing this??? 😵

There is a list of Wikipedia projects and Wikidata in the links, but if I click on it it goes to "Copyright troll". --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 14:00, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added an image, no vandalism on Wikidata. Perhaps someone added a link wrong. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 14:06, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
