Commons talk:Transfer script

The script should not take an URI but an Interwiki link. Its only purpose is to move images, including their history, from a wiki to the commons. Further, the script should make sure the image is tagged with a free license, and refuse to do it's work otherwise. (gerit)

user issues

when moving the history there is the problem that the differernt wikis have seperate usernames. I propose the following soloution to this 1: forbid usernames of the form ??:* 2: make user:??:* redirect to ??:user:* 3: add the interwiki prefix to the username when moving the history Plugwash 18:25, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Legal bits

i don't see how having to follow one extra clearly labeled link (from the image page on the wikipedia to the one on the commons) within our group of websites would affect gfdl compliance. Plugwash 21:26, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Breaking direct links from other sites

commons images are in a different dir on the download server so moving an image to commons will break direct links to the image file from other sites. Plugwash 22:34, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
