Diagram distorting in other versions[edit]

We can notice that, some of the 'other version' diagrams are getting distorted after uploading. Please check Telugu and Kannada versions of this file: File:A Reaction Turbomachine Stage.svg. --Vikashegde (talk) 19:31, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Shyamal: Please help us with this. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 16:53, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to be some bug in the png thumbnail generator. Shyamal L. (talk) 17:02, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hidden categories[edit]

Do we need to add hidden categories also as in the original image file? --Vikashegde (talk) 17:38, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Vikashegde: In most cases we don't need to add the hidden categories, which are mostly added by templates used on those files. But if you feel that something is relevant to the translated file, you can add it. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 18:20, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

World War casualties file[edit]

@Shyamal: I kindly request you to check this file, File:WorldWarIICasualties2-te.svg. There is a black box at the bottom left corner. From my understanding, this happens when text is flown onto a path, but that is not the case with this file. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 18:23, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@KCVelaga: - fixed (it is that usual flowroot element problem) - sorry, I was travelling and this completely escaped my attention. If there is a hurry, please ping me to remind me. Shyamal L. (talk) 17:04, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: Thanks for fixing the file. This was not very urgent tough if there is anything I'll remind you. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 17:19, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Text not appearing in a single line[edit]

Please check the page . I am not able to split the text "നാല് കാലുകൾ" into two lines. I am seeing the image in separate lines in Inkscape, but not in the uploaded file.Adithyak1997 (talk) 11:31, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Adithyak1997: , Revert the file to second image that you have uploaded. It seems perfect for me. After reverting clear the browser cache/ open in a new private mode window.-Jinoytommanjaly (talk) 19:43, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jinoytommanjaly: Please check current version. I think I failed in doing that. If you can, please check if it can be reverted to the needed version.Adithyak1997 (talk) 14:37, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Adithyak1997: , I have reverted back and corrected the image. Kindly check the file and add the 'other versions' template.-Jinoytommanjaly (talk) 12:00, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like User:TilmannR has fixed the issue. Shyamal L. (talk) 02:49, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

XML error while uploading[edit]

I am getting XML error while uploading Telugu file of File:Atomic number depiction.svg. Mekala Harika (talk) 08:21, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mekala Harika: The file had an embedded thumbnail (added by Adobe Illustrator) that is no longer admitted on Commons. I have uploaded a version with the thumbnail raster removed. Do try retranslating and uploading. @NKohli (WMF): - perhaps the translate tool should also do the cleanup of such rasters and other stuff that Commons no longer accepts. Shyamal L. (talk) 03:38, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: Thanks for the solution. Mekala Harika (talk) 02:24, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: I got the same error for this File:Tamil Nadu district map.svg also.Mekala Harika (talk) 03:52, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Mekala Harika: - have removed the metadata node. You can also do this by running your svg file through https://www.ofoct.com/image-converter/svg-optimizer.html before uploading Shyamal L. (talk) 04:12, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: Thanks for the solution. Mekala Harika (talk) 01:21, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help with File:Computer abstraction layers (1)-mr.svg[edit]

Hi, this file, File:Computer abstraction layers (1)-mr.svg, has issues with the text. Someone please help. --Naik Ganesh Chandu (talk) 11:33, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Naik Ganesh Chandu: Could you please explain the issues you see so that someone who does not know Marathi can help? Shyamal L. (talk) 02:43, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: The general flowroot issue, it was corrected by TilmannR. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 06:44, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Naik Ganesh Chandu and Shyamal: You can get more information about the flowRoot problem on the pages Help:SVG#Black_rectangle_(Flowed_Text_bug) and User:JoKalliauer/RepairFlowRoot. TilmannR (talk) 09:09, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Derivative Works Decision Tree missing labels[edit]

@Shyamal: The file, File:Derivative Works Decision Tree.svg, when opened in Inkscape, the labels go missing. Please check it. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 06:47, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think Inkscape has a bug in handling switch blocks. This has to be hand edited or through the translate tool. Shyamal L. (talk) 08:18, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:Mosquito gender en-mr.svg - labels coming in black[edit]

@Shyamal: , Pl resolve the issue.--Rajashri Ravindrasing Patil (talk) 09:51, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Rajashri Ravindrasing Patil: The problem was that the file contained so-called flowed text. You can learn how to avoid and fix this kind of problem on the pages Help:SVG#Black_rectangle_(Flowed_Text_bug) and User:JoKalliauer/RepairFlowRoot. TilmannR (talk) 10:12, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Please use the text tool with a single mouse click followed by typing the text, not by dragging a box region and typing into it. Shyamal L. (talk) 10:14, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicates and other problems[edit]

Hi. I noticed that quite a few files have been translated multiple times.

Are those translators simply not using the Commons talk:SVG_Translation_Campaign_2019_in_India/File_list or is the list not working as intended? Are there any plans to deduplicate those files? Will there be a "cleanup pass" after STC19 finished? I.e. will there be a concerted effort to ensure that all images have appropriate source and authorship information and that the {{Other versions}} templates really contain all other versions? Beginners are going to make beginner's mistakes and I believe that correcting those mistakes should be part of the campaign. TilmannR (talk) 14:50, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TilmannR: Thanks for the message, and identifying these duplicates. Yes, I do agree with you that several files have duplicates, and but this is a side-effect (-ve) for this campaign. Yes, we will definitely correct these mistakes through the month of April, even before we actually put out the metrics and a report for this campaign. I may ping you for some help in that process :) KCVelaga (talk · mail) 18:00, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the participants are using the lists, but some might not be doing that. But since this campaign also attracted a lot of beginners (to WCommons or even to Wiki), they seemed to be confused. But we will clean up all this after the campaign ends, and make sure that everything is intact. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 18:04, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@TilmannR: Phase 2 of the cleanup is now on, at Commons:SVG Translation Campaign 2019 in India/Phase 2 Cleanup. Please let me know if you can help us with some language categories. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 08:37, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Error: SVG file contains an illegal namespace[edit]

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqiTDxueDDB7gc4Rh6mx-KoDOrajUQ

I am unable to upload the file after translation. This is my attempt at this correct for any issues.

Error: Intestine-te.svg This SVG file contains an illegal namespace "http://www.svgmaker.com/svgns". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharathdee (talk • contribs) 07:45, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pls copy the whole file and paste in new file then save it. --Sumita Roy Dutta (talk) 17:34, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sharathdee: FYI, KCVelaga (talk · mail) 15:46, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose that should it would be clearer to state as a series of steps - 1) open in Inkscape 2) copy all to clipboard 3) open a new Inkscape window and 4) paste from clipboard and 5) save to svg file. Shyamal L. (talk) 17:18, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: Will that also fix the W3C validity issues? KCVelaga (talk · mail) 17:42, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure how the clipboard copy is implemented - somethings get dropped since the data in clipboard is probably a platform specific format metafile (wonder if there is a Windows Linux difference in behaviour then) - but I have not tried to use it just to fix w3c issues. Maybe it will work. Shyamal L. (talk) 07:00, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Shyamal: It doesn't seem to work on Windows. Tried on this file. KCVelaga (talk · mail) 07:30, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
