Eusebius, it might be good to put a clock/clock-template/script showing UTC on the page as most of us are living at their local time not at UTC; just to ease things. --Túrelio (talk) 21:37, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. I'm not at UTC either, but I use the UTCLiveClock gadget, which displays UTC time in the top right corner, and, when clicked, recalculates the page (with transcluded templates and so on). Should we point to the gadget instead? Anyway, it's just like a draft for now, and it's not a page in my user namespace, so you're very welcome to edit (if you know an embeddable UTC script for instance). --Eusebius (talk) 21:45, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tools

[edit]

I don't know how other people do watch Special:NewFiles, but whenever I do it (irregularly), I'm using MediaWiki:Gadget-GalleryDetails.js with the alternate interface using popups (enabled by "importScript ('MediaWiki:GalleryDetails-Tooltips.js');" in my monobook.js). Personally, I find it more convenient than either AzaToth's toolserver script or para's live feed, because I get a quick green-yellow-red indication, and a couple of useful links to automatically tag images (or delete them right away, or notify users, or run a tineye check), all without having to leave Special:NewFiles. Of course, YMMV. What tools do you use? Lupo 12:17, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I use none. I have tried some (can't remember which ones), but I didn't like them. I'll give another try at the ones you point out (some time). --Eusebius (talk) 14:26, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To improve several parts of Special:NewFiles, I suggested a series of updates to MediaWiki:Imagelisttext, MediaWiki:Newimages-summary, MediaWiki:Sp-newimages-showfrom on their talk page. One includes linking the tool. -- User:Docu at 09:16, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CUP

[edit]

Krinkles tool is great and technically very well implemented. However, it is much more patroling then I do regulary, I dont check every upload. Example 2010-11-04 15-16h:

  • Of page 1 I will check the flag, 103P Hartley.jpg and why the user uploaded it two times (495296main epoxi-1-f...). I will check the religios image File:Kali Shakespeare Sarani Arnab Dutta 2010.JPG and in the last row File:CamposNovosPta-1.jpg - both because of bad expirience with religios images and images of anything in South America, especially buildings, from portuguese or spanish users.
  • On the previos page 2 I will check the BuddahLand covers, I will see that they have no license anyway, so I will add one of them to my watchlist and the rest will be done in 7 days. I will have a look at the military image File:Pechora-2D.JPG, on the people images and especially XavierNovellGoma.jpg and Bret_easton_ellis.jpg.

So I will continiue. Patrolling any upload is too much curiosity and much work. It will unlikely have sucess, no matter how great the tools we use are. To do patroling efficiently one must go with a 'filter' through the new files, in my example Im proud owner of an expirience filter ;) --Martin H. (talk) 12:47, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
