Labelling the finalists[edit]

I have gone though the finalists and added {{Assessments|com=1|comy=f|year=2008}} to each one, which lists it as a finalist in the POTY competition 2008 (keeping any existing parameters, of course).

The Assessments template does not specifically recognise category winners/honourable mentions, nor do we have any individual logos for those. But since all have gone forward to the final I think it should be enough recognition that they are finalists, and can proudly display the finalist logo: . --MichaelMaggs (talk) 14:08, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for adding! I agree to you that it should be enough recognition that they are finalists. And I feel the finalist logo is good and proud enough for category winners. I added the logo to the category result gallery.
Is it possible to add category information or the link to the assessment templates? Such as... "This file was a finalist in Picture of the Year 2008." or This file was a finalist of Category Birds in Picture of the Year 2008."--miya (talk) 17:20, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The assessments template gives the wording "This file was a finalist in Picture of the Year 2008.", and I have added that for all finalists. But it doesn't do a link (other than just to Commons:Picture of the Year/2008), nor is it possible to mention category names. The assessments template is extremely complicated, and I really don't think it would be a good plan to touch it. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 18:01, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Results/Round 2/List[edit]

BY the way now I'm wondering how to announce the Final result (Commons:Picture of the Year/2008/Results/Round 2). The last year's form doesn't contain category information. --miya (talk) 17:20, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There were categories last year but they are not mentioned in the final list of results. I would suggest doing the same this year. The only reason to have categories, really, is to make the round 1 voting easier. Once we get to the final, categories are no longer used. Probably the list of results for 2008 can follow a similar layout to that of last time, except that there won't be enough comments to be worth listing. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 18:09, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
