Help needed?[edit]

Hello, I have extra time to help out so I herewith apply to become a PD reviewer. Would probably be media related to the USA and/or Germany. Greetz, --Mattes (talk) 06:28, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For much of my time here, I have spent many hours tagging dozens of files (claimed as being {{PD-UK-unknown}} without reference to the US public domain) copied from National Portrait Gallery as {{Not-PD-US-URAA}}. Admins will notice, in my deleted contributions, how I have flagged (and had deleted) dozens more for copyright violations. In light of this, it would be my honour to build on my prior experience in scrutinising new files with this role. AlbanGeller (talk) 19:16, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion AlbanGeller is ready to become a PD files reviewer. Taivo (talk) 20:39, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request for PD-reviewer.[edit]

Hello! I wanted to become a PD-reviewer to contribute to the preservation and accessibility of public domain media. So I would like to help out. Ayzkao (talk) 02:54, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for PD-Reviewer status[edit]

Having gained experience both in deletion requests on Commons and in assessing the US copyright status of English Wikipedia images known to be free in their home country, it would be a natural extension of my work to review files marked as PD on Commons. The backlogs here seem to be significantly worse than locally on the English Wikipedia, and stakes are higher, so this seems a worthwhile endeavour. Felix QW (talk) 07:02, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that this activity is long dead... SV1XV (talk) 17:39, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had thought as much, but then I saw that there was a bot yesterday that was Adding files in Flickr public domain images needing human review to a category by uploader to make flickrreview easier, which made it sound like this category is actually supposed to be reviewed by someone. And this led me here, where, sure enough, there was no deprecation notice and users having added themselves as recently as May 2023. Felix QW (talk) 20:07, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Flickr review is a separate activity, not linked with PD-review. SV1XV (talk) 18:33, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What confused me is that Category:Flickr public domain images needing human review‎ is a subcategory of Category:PD files for review, whose header text led me here. But I guess there is not too much to be gained from a reviewed label when anyone could look through PD images, and nominate mistagged ones for deletion or fix them if possible. The illusion of ever getting through a "backlog" on this is probably unhelpful for a project like Commons. Felix QW (talk) 19:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
