Re: add the | commonscat =[edit]

I don't understand this piece of advice. | commonscat = is a parameter to what template? --Nemo 12:43, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Nemo bis: The row template (I added that to the page). Jean-Fred (talk) 23:29, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; I asked because of phabricator:T111286, as you found out. :) --Nemo 05:27, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lists on Wikipedia[edit]

I'm not sure I understand "Every list on Wikipedia and most categories containing the lists on Wikipedia should have a {{Commonscat}}". Is the interproject link in e.g. w:it:Progetto:Wiki Loves Monuments 2015/Monumenti/Basilicata good enough? --Nemo 12:43, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, assuming this interproject link is made using a template recognized as such by the Pywikibot library (which is always the case for the default {{Commonscat}}). All good with this list :) Jean-Fred (talk) 23:31, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple ids[edit]

First of all thanks for the work and to make the erfgoedbot run again. It is quite useful. And special thanks for description of the underlying algorithm, which makes things more clear.

My question is on multiple ids in the same image (there could be more than one ID template, e.g. File:Lions at Schönbrunner Schlossbrücke.jpg). Will this be supported and will the algorithm loop over all ids found? Will this work also for non cultural heritage objects like public art or natural monuments? If I add a second Id later, after the first bot visit, will the bot recategorize the same image again? --Herzi Pinki (talk) 21:50, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Herzi Pinki,
Very good questions!
1/ Multiple IDs − this is not supported. The way the bot works currently is that it loops over all the templates present in the file, and stops when it finds the ID template. So if there are two ID templates, it will stop at the first it encounters (not sure if that would be the first on the page).
2/ non-cultural heritage objects: some countries already put public art configuration in the database (for Wiki Loves Public Art). We talked about natural monuments with User:AleXXw − this is definitely on the agenda.
3/ The bot works not by looping over images with the tracker template, but looping over images in the « base category ». It was mainly designed to diffuse the incoming WLM pictures. So no, even changing the ID, as long as the image is not in the base category anymore, it will not be considered by the bot.
Hope that helps!

Hi thanks for the answer. Nevertheless, sorry to get this confirmed. --Herzi Pinki (talk) 22:54, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency[edit]

  1. If there is a commonscat entry in the table row, this is the category to add to the image.
  2. If there is an article set in the table row, than the algorithm will look up any commonscat in the article and add this category to the image.

If the first rule does not match, but the second does, I would consider this as an inconistency. IMHO the table row in this case should have set the commonscat entry to one of the categories used in the linked article. Right? Could you at least log that cases for manual attention? --Herzi Pinki (talk) 21:50, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some countries just don’t really add commonscat entries in table rows − for example France almost does not, but I think it is because we create articles on basically all monuments: it would feel like duplicating work for editors to add the commonscat to the table row, when it is easy to find it back via the article. Logging these cases can certainly be done, yes. I’ll have a look. Jean-Fred (talk) 22:39, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
La France, n'est plus pas le centre du monde. :-) - thanks for caring. In Austria we first fill the lists and maybe later we will get articles (or never). --Herzi Pinki (talk) 23:02, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki loves monuments 2017[edit]

As you might know Wiki loves monuments 2017 has started, but this categorization seem to have stopped in February. Can you restart it? HenkvD (talk) 18:21, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
