SvgGradientSimplify.py[edit]

In the process of fixing en:File:2010 Lisbon summit.svg I stumbled upon an issue that can be equally blamed on Adobe Illustrator and MediaWiki SVG rendering: with certain kinds of linear gradient definitions, the MediaWiki fails to render these gradients. The problem is caused by Illustrator's weird way of defining gradient vectors: they are set to a ridiculously small size and then scaled up using a gradientTransform. Anyway, as this is not the first time this issue has appeared for me, I wrote a script that gets rid of the gradientTransforms by applying them and then updating the vector coordinates with the new numbers. As this might come in handy for anyone else dealing with SVGs (removing the transforms is a good idea even if no direct issues are being caused), I made the script available at en:User:Quibik/SvgGradientSimplify.py. —Quibik (talk) 22:57, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Colour-blind users[edit]

An example of map hard to read even for partially colour-blind users

Do we have any help page, tutorial or guideline on how to make maps, graphs etc. accessible by readers affected by color blindness? Should there be more suggestions on this topic? How many maps of ours are as hard to read as the one pictured? A search like green red map finds almost three thousands results, and given how few maps have a good legend and categorisation I suppose there's probably an order of magnitude more. --Nemo 19:06, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea if there is one, but would like to support you in making one and linking everywhere appropriate. Penyulap 05:08, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If anyone's confused about the map now it's because I reuploaded it changing to green lightness a bit to help colorblind users.—Love, Kelvinsong talk 18:01, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Graphic Lab color scheme[edit]

I was thinking about changing the Graphic Lab color scheme, I want to change it to something like this image (might be some slight variations depending on how the changes go). But I wanted to post here first to see if there are any objections? - Offnfopt(talk) 08:58, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: I went ahead and made the changes, if there are complaints of the color scheme I can revert. - Offnfopt(talk) 14:01, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Project proposal[edit]

Please see Meta:Grants:Project/Glrx/SVG i18n. Its intention is to use SVG's switch element and Wikidata for translation hints. Glrx (talk) 23:28, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to be into the group...[edit]

How can I join to help make graphics? Also, I'd like to know which system can I use to make maps. Don't forget to mention me if you're going to reply me. My regards.--VictorPines (talk) 14:14, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Note of thanks and User Group suggestion[edit]

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the Graphics Lab community. It's a vital part of the movement and I don't think it gets the recognition that it deserves.

Would it be worthwhile registering as a User Group for better visibility to other parts of Wikimedia and representation in the strategy process (eg at the Berlin conference)? T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 01:59, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Font change when language changes[edit]

Is there any way to change the font when the language is changed or we should just use one font for all languages? Yoosef (talk) 11:17, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, CSS can change a font based on the language.
I would like to do that for SVG files, but the WMF rasterizer does not process the CSS lang() selector.

Icon proposal[edit]

Hello, I would like to propose the change of the icon of the graphic lab. Here is the icon I propose : . For comparison, here is the current icon: . I think this addition will give a facelift to this page, but my proposal is also more readable and accessible than the current logo. What do you think of that ? Hi, Commons:Graphic Lab/Software seems pretty outdated.
