Convert Wiki tables to Excel, etc[edit]

I find it hard to make significant edits to tables. Is there a tool that can covert Wiki tables into Excel? I know I can copy the data into an Excel table, but it loses the formatting and citations. Will Beback (talk) 05:35, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This page is probably not watched by too many people. There are some much busier places such as the Graphic Labs on Wikipedia and the Commons that might be very helpful. Some very skilled people drop in there. See: en:Wikipedia:Graphic Lab, and Category:Graphic Lab.
I don't use Excel. I am usually trying to figure out how to get stuff into wiki-table form, not the other way around. Or I stumble around on online chart-making sites to create tables, and then convert them to image files or wiki-tables. I sometimes use NoteTab Light (freeware) to copy columns of data. It has the ability to copy and paste blocks of characters.
I did a Google search and found these pages:

You're welcome! If you find any tools or sites please add the info to the page (or other how-to pages on the Commons). --Timeshifter (talk) 14:39, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
