Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 in Tanzania

Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photographic contest organized by Wikimedia communities to document cultures in different regions of the world. Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 is the continuation of Wiki Loves Folklore 2022 project with the theme of folk culture. The basic aim of the competition is to collect photos of human cultural diversity to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects. The photos provided must match the theme, although the contest is not limited to any official list of protected areas, which means that most users will be able to find several pertaining subjects close to the theme, whether festivals, dances, cuisine, clothing, or daily life routine emphasizing on folk culture of that area.

This photography contest is focused on the folk culture of different regions in categories, such as but not limited to, folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folklore, and tradition, including ballads, folktales, fairy tales, legends, traditional song and dance, folk plays, games, seasonal events, calendar customs, folk arts, folk religion, mythology, etc.

The contest is being organized by the Wikimedia Community Kilimanjaro with the collaboration of Wikimedians of Arusha User Group.

Top uploader prize for images: First Prize: 100 USD, Second prize: 50 USD

Certificates and postcards to Local Organizers.

How do I participate?

General information

Everybody is allowed to participate, regardless of age, nationality, and place of living, given he/she agrees to publish their work under Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.

In order to participate in the contest, one needs

to have an account at Wikimedia Commons;
take pictures of the Tanzanian culture;
Upload pictures at Commons. Don't forget to add the Category:Images from Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 in Tanzania
