In the 2022–23 Annual Plan the Wikimedia Foundation wrote that it would, among other things, "Deepen our Commitment to Knowledge as a Service, starting with Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata".

More specific feedback which was received during some community calls with Commons and Wikidata contributors has furthermore highlighted the following:

• OpenRefine Training: The "OpenRefine for Commons" course is now available in English, French, Spanish, and Italian. To learn more, visit the Wikilearn OpenRefine for Wikimedia Commons course page
• Commons Impact Metrics: Marcel Ruiz Forns will lead a session at the Wikimedia Hackathon titled "Commons Impact Metrics BETA Data Dumps available today!" The session will include a walkthrough and invites setting up local environments to explore the data dumps. To learn more, visit the phabricator ticket
• Upload Wizard Improvement: Enhancements to the Describe steps are now in development. The Structured Data team also introduced a new tool prototype for logo detection, discussed on the Commons Village pump. This led to a lot of useful feedback, and the team is now considering integration into the Upload Wizard.To learn more, visit the discussion page on Commons:VP

• OpenRefine training: A bulk upload and edit training program with OpenRefine

• WikiLegal for Commons: A space where commons contributors can suggest topics that need input from the WMF Legal Department.
