review=  Oppose The scope is not right. This is just one person's idea of what an umpire uses. Charles (talk) 08:19, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Info @Charlesjsharp: : The selection of equipment shown in this image is taken straight from Tom Smith's book (see description accompanying image), making it Tom Smith's choice, not mine. This book, published and endorsed by the MCC, is cited in the bibliography sections in both the articles Scoring_(cricket) and Umpire (cricket). I cannot think of a better endorsement than the MCC. If you wish, I will change the scope to "Personal equipment used by a cricket umpire as per Tom Smith's book on cricket umpiring and scoring". Martinvl (talk) 15:02, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Comment one person = Tom Smith. I've not read the book, but I would be surprised if he describes bails as an umpire's 'equipment' and amazed if he recommends the obsolete counter you illustrate. VIs should not be misleading. Charles (talk) 16:08, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Comment @Charlesjsharp: I am a qualified cricket umpire and I have a copy of Tom Smith's readily to hand. The equipement shown is what I personally carry.
  • Quote from page 9: "... Every umpire should establish a method of counting with which he feels comfortable and which becomes automatic by usage...". No one particular method of counting is advocated.
  • Quote from page 11: "... Each [umpire] should carry a spare [bail] in case of damage or breakage during play".
  • Quote from page 11: "Those items regarded as essential are:" The list that follows is are of the description of the image.
