From January 2016, the St. John’s Church launched the first ever Church GLAM, supported by Wikimedia India. This programme marks the start of what it is hoped will be an ongoing collaboration between the St. John’s Church and Wikimedia; the collaboration aims to establish a self-sustaining and long-lasting relationship between the church and the Wikimedia community, and to encourage the growth of the Wikimedia community in West Bengal more generally. The St. John’s Church as well the GLAM co-ordinators will act as a facilitator and catalyst over a period of several months, helping to open up access to St. John’s Church collections through Wikimedia projects where appropriate, and to work with St. John’s Church staff to help incorporate Wikimedia's mission of a free and open knowledge base into future initiatives.

This project aims to synchronize the sharing of resources between the St. John’s Church and the Wikimedia community. The church comprises a large volume of Baptism, marriage and burial records.
