Consensual review[edit]

File:Illawarra_region_map.png[edit]

  • Nomination: A region map of the Illawarra region in New South Wales, Australia. --SHB2000 12:26, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
  • Review * Oppose missing stretches of Highway 1 (A1) --Charlesjsharp 09:15, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
Which sections of the A1 are missing? The road is A1 south of the Kiama Bends (the short freeway gap), which is what's being shown oTn the map. --SHB2000 10:51, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
Not certain whether this is what Charles was referring to, but Google Maps shows the A1 running through Albion Park as a sort of hypotenuse to the L-shape of the M1 there. BigDom (talk) 06:44, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
Fair point, but route numbers in NSW never parallel each other – that means Highway 1 is either A1 or M1, never both in two different routes. From memory, though, that section of the A1 is now unsigned, which would have been the case ever since the Albion Park Bypass of the M1 opened in 2021. --SHB2000 12:15, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
In that case the current view would be fine with me, let's see if Charles can clear up whether that was what he was referring to. BigDom 12:36, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
I added an extra A1 between Berry and Bomaderry just for clarity, if that's what Charles was looking for. --SHB2000 08:19, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
  •  Question What do you mean by "extra"? -- Ikan Kekek 07:23, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
  • Another A1 marker, if that's what you're looking for. --SHB2000 11:37, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
  •  Oppose Colours for "major road" are not the same on the map and in the key. BigDom 05:51, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
Inkscape claims both use ffa500 (I think it's not fully clear with the white background – I also had the same initial suspicion). --SHB2000 12:15, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
Hmm, I'm getting ffa500 on the map, but ffd00f in the key (also Inkscape). BigDom 12:36, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
    Seems you're right – I don't know what was happening then, but nevertheless, I've fixed it. --SHB2000 08:19, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Support Thanks, looks good to me now. BigDom 11:31, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
  • Highway 1 runs through Depto parallel (to the West) with MI but it is missing from this map. Look at Google Maps. @Ikan Kekek and BigDom:
I have driven through this area several times before and can confirm from first-hand observations that the Princes Hwy is unnumbered. I've also sent several requests to Google Maps to remove the A1 marker but they've mostly gone unanswered/unnoticed. Cf OSM, which is much more accurate and reliable when it comes to route numbering in New South Wales. But, if you very so insist on Google Maps, see [1], [2] and [3] do not use A1 to refer to the Princes Hwy north of Shell Cove. --SHB2000 01:14, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
  •  Comment I have one main problem with this map: The name of Albion Park messily overlaps with the coastline. Please put it to the left (west) of the town, not touching the roads. The names of Kiama and Port Kembla also have letters that overlap messily with the coastline. I suggest putting those names all in the ocean to the right of the towns. Move the name of Wollongong just a tiny bit to the right, too, as it overlaps with the coastline just a tad. Otherwise, I'd defer to you. -- Ikan Kekek 02:24, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
@Ikan Kekek: ✓ Fixed – thanks for the feedback. The layout looks much nicer! --SHB2000 03:37, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
  •  Support Yes indeed. You're welcome! -- Ikan Kekek 08:53, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
  •  Oppose Why is the wave pattern on the inland lakes at a different scale from the sea? Also since it's at very high resolution, why no vector file? --MB-one (talk) 18:04, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
This is the standard convention used on most Wikivoyage maps, which is the purpose of this map. Have linked the vector file. --SHB2000 01:14, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Total: 2 support (excluding the nominator), 2 oppose → Inconclusive result after 8 consensual review days   --Robert Flogaus-Faust 17:32, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
