Consensual review[edit]

File:Macaca_nigra_self-portrait_large.jpg[edit]

  • Nomination Self-portrait of a female Macaca nigra (Celebes crested macaque) in North Sulawesi, Indonesia (by Crisco 1492) --Vitaium 12:06, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  • Decline
  •  Support Good quality. --Argenberg 12:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Oppose Fails the creator criterion, as the creator has been legally identified as the pictured macaque. --C messier 14:18, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Oppose I disagree. The photo was not taken by a Wikipedian, but by this macaque. The camera owner David Slater is not a Wikipedian either.. --Steindy 14:26, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Comment Maybe we could regard this macaque a Wikimedian as an exception? Because the macaque has a good eye for photography. --Argenberg 14:56, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Oppose Speedy decline, please, per above. -- Ikan Kekek 22:20, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Question Do we know if the photographer (owner of the camera) David Slater is a commoner? --August Geyler (talk) 09:55, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Comment It wouldn't matter, because he didn't take the photo. And if he had his druthers, he'd charge for anyone to use it. -- Ikan Kekek 11:28, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Comment If Mr. Slater is a Commoner, we could promote this image. Because giving the camera to a monkey for pushing the shutter can be seen as an artistic decision of how to make the image. By law, a monkey for example in Germany is seen as a thing and not as a person. So the person who is interacting with a thing to take a picture (like when using a remote shutter release) is seen as the author of the resulting image. That's why I think we should know that. --Augustgeyler 21:24, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Oppose The photo has exactly the quality level we probably have to expect from a monkey. Try VIC instead. --A.Savin 17:16, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Oppose QI in all respects except creator criterion. Commons won their case and was able to keep the image upload when the US Copyright court ruled that the image maker was this macaque with the beautiful eyes; not David Slater who supplied the camera nor the Wikimedian who uploaded it. --GRDN711 05:53, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Comment Very interesting story! --Augustgeyler 10:22, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Oppose Luckily the authorship of this picture has been attributed to the monkey by the court. Luckily, because otherwise it would be deleted long ago from here by Mr. Slater. So it does not matter if he is a commoner or not. The monkey for sure isn't :) --Jakubhal 12:48, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Comment Maybe we should invite her to join. She's better than quite a few photographers whose work we've seen. -- Ikan Kekek 19:56, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
Total: 1 support (excluding the nominator), 6 oppose → Declined   --C messier 23:38, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

  • Nomination Ivan Lucic, goalkeeper of Austria U21. --Steindy 00:01, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
  • Promotion
  •  Oppose Insufficient DoF, ball not in focus. --Tagooty 10:56, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Comment I disagree. You know what a ball looks like. For me, therefore, the focus was on the person. Neither is technically possible with a focal length of 480 mm. Let's hear other votes please. --Steindy 14:31, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Support OK for me. --Palauenc05 14:23, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Support OK for me as well. --Ermell 16:10, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Support OK for me. Ideally, the whole face would be shown and in focus, but as this is an action shot and it is typical for the goalkeeper to catch the ball, I think it's fine.--Peulle 16:23, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Support QI for me. --Jakubhal 12:42, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
  •  Support QI for me --Sandro Halank 14:44, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
