Consensual review[edit]

File:Igreja_de_São_Francisco_de_Paula_por_Rodrigo_Tetsuo_Argenton.jpg[edit]

  • Nomination Igreja de São Francisco de Paula, Rio de Janeiro --Rodrigo.Argenton 00:07, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Decline : Comment - Beautiful subject, but I'd recommend toning down the highlights. -- Ikan Kekek 02:54, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
The file is at the limit of weirdness, and I quite like the god light coming in. --Rodrigo.Argenton 06:16, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
Comment - I don't know why you're sending this to CR without my having voted on this nomination. By doing that, you've tempted me to oppose, but I still don't plan on voting, because most of the photo is very good, and I simply wasn't prepared (and still am not prepared) to support or promote an image with this much overexposure in the highlights. I think you could get the same symbolism without this drastic a degree of contrast. -- Ikan Kekek 22:01, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
Ikan Kekek I just submit to discuss, because I am not more a frequent volunteer, that can check time to time the discussions. Again, it will be weird, but I will made our adjustment. But see the level of contrast level of contrast this is the reality, how we see in real life, but 3 stops lower of the "normal" exposure. --Rodrigo.Argenton 09:04, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
I see. I have to say, though, what you did was just to lower the light uniformly. My suggestion was just to dial down the brightest highlights. I don't know what to say about the real view - it seems that if that's actually how it looks, it's definitely problematic to photograph. -- Ikan Kekek 00:43, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
I toned down a little. Rodrigo.Argenton 19:23, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

File:Bombone_Rignano_sull_Arno_nevicata_del_25_marzo_2020.jpg[edit]

  • Nomination Snowfall of March 25, 2020 in Bombone Rignano sull'Arno, says a proverb: March snow lasts from evening to morning. --PROPOLI87 20:49, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

  •  Support Good quality. --Zcebeci 22:05, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Oppose for discussion: Isn't there a lot of reddish chromatic aberration in this photo, especially in the foreground? -- Ikan Kekek 22:15, 27 March 2020
  •  Comment for discussion: The red is due to the Florentine terracotta on which the snow has settled. Is it better if I cut a piece under it? PROPOLI87 09:47, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Comment - Thanks for the explanation. I'm not positive whether there might not be more CA in some of the snow on the trees, but I'm not sure, so I'll simply cross out my vote and let others look and decide what they're seeing. -- Ikan Kekek 22:04, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Oppose I don´t find the composition is succeeded here. Especially the unsharp bottom is disturbing. Let´s hear other opinions. --Milseburg 20:54, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

  •  Support enough detail to be considered QI and very well made. --MB-one 13:03, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

  •  Comment What is the symbol on the invitation, and how does it relate to wishing someone a happy new year? --Bobulous 21:41, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Oppose per Milseburg, too simple. Tournasol7 13:32, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Oppose The fruit is the only thing on this one not made of simple straight lines...--Peulle 17:34, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Comment In my opinion, simplicity is a strenght, not weakness of an icon. Icon must be as simple as possible and (in the same time) as understandable as possible. --Grtek 17:18, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
  •  Comment - You're pretty much right in terms of logos. So maybe I should vote for the shofar icon. But this one is neither that simple nor is it clear in meaning to me. What says "New Years" about this? They're supposed to be pomegranates for first fruits for the second night of Rosh Hashana? I'm Ashkenazic, and that's a little obscure to me. Is this really obvious in Israel? -- Ikan Kekek 09:16, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
In fact the meaning of this icon is more universal for me. It can be used as an icon of any greeting letter despite its title. The same for "honey glass icon".--Grtek 00:46, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
The pomegranate icon looks like a grenade to me, sorry. -- Ikan Kekek 01:08, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
@Ikan Kekek: The pomegranate is called like that because it looks like a grenade :) Such posters/postcards are popular, see this, or this, or this. Such pomegranates are also sold in souvenir shops for tourists, together with dreidels and menorahs. --Andrei (talk) 07:06, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
OK. I've never spent the High Holidays in Israel. In New York, pomegranates can be found at Rosh Hashana dinners, but it's the honey apple and other things with honey like honey cake that are most closely associated with the holiday here. I'll  Support, though. -- Ikan Kekek 08:03, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

  •  Oppose Agree that the face is out of focus. --17jiangz1 17:42, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
