A tram in Aarhus.

I'd be very interested in critiques for this image, especially regarding the verticals and what exactly the fence on the building right of the display on top of the rear control cab of the tram. A comparison for the building and it's slightly twisted corners can be found here. -- Liberaler Humanist (talk) 21:10, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Juvenile grey heron

A couple of days ago I shot these images at a local pond. I struggled to identify them as juvenile grey heron, because online compendiums and Wikipedia do not explicitly mention the lack of prominent features compared to adults. So I try to use them as examples for edits later this week.

However I wonder if this or the alternate version could stand against the QI standards. My main two opinions against it would be in the slight softness in texture when zoomed in at 100%. I'm not sure if that's resulting from profiled denoise-techniques, I could provide the RAW file, but even without it seems rather soft-ish. Though I don't think the softness comes from a focusing issue.

Second critique would be the rather distracting foreground, despite it's nature: This bird is trying to hide in reed. However the heron is distinctively separated because of the distinct cold coloration of the bird against the rather warm-ish red reed. Even though the subject is intentionally placed slightly of the center, a 1:1 crop with the subject more in the center could make a difference with regard of the slightly distracting foreground.

What do you think?

Etaped, I'm sorry no-one has answered for so long. I think this photo would struggle at COM:QIC because the subject is not sharp. Of course, your explanation of why is completely understandable, and I think it's a good photo, but in spite of the reeds, you might have been able to increase the depth of field a bit to make the bird somewhat sharper. I couldn't advise you on technical matters, though. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:28, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
