Probability for FP?

This section was archived on a request by: 廣九直通車 (talk) 09:56, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

Just recently I remembered that I uploaded several images about fire engines of Hong Kong. After comparing some of these to current featured pictures about vehicles, I chose 5 files as shown in the gallery. As I now have totally no confidence about my files (humble), I would like to consult the professionals here for suggestions, thank you.廣九直通車 (talk) 11:50, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi 廣九直通車,
The first image image lacks contrast, looks like a little a bit haze. Check this edit suggestion [1]
When you give the proper highlight to the object, there are a lot objects reflecting on the side of the truck, that derail our attention from it. Talking about attention, at the left of the photo a bunch of elements also removes our attention, the door, the sign, all the things behind the truck... this is not photojournalism you can remove all those things - different from the previous problem, this one is not that hard to fix. The truck is too close to the right edge, as there is none complex elements, you can extend the image to the right, giving more room to the truck.
But, this are the main problems, even fixing, I do not believe that could be a FP. Something is missing, lacks movement... -- Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 12:43, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Fortress Hohensalzburg

What do you think about this image? I really like it but I know it's not perfect. Do you see a chance for a successful QI nomination?

Andreas Stiasny (talk) 12:22, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

It seems borderline for QI, so it's worth nominating, but check the margins of buildings carefully for any hints of chromatic aberration, because voters at QIC tend to be very strict about that. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:07, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll do that when I have the time for it. There seem to be some purple fringes in the lower right of the image where the darkest parts of the building touch the bright clouds. I'm looking forward to increase my knowledge about image processing software. -- Andreas Stiasny (talk) 11:28, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
The image has been accepted as QI and VI. Thanks again. --Andreas Stiasny (talk) 05:54, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

Architecture

I'm new to doing photographs of architecture and wanted some feedback to improve my skills.

Hello Dktue,
I'm not an expert yet but I think with 10mm focal length you are using an extreme wide angle lens. This is not ideal for architecture photography because the images look distorted. Maybe sometimes it is necessary in a narrow road where you can't take a picture of a house from farther away but usually it looks better to increase the distance to the building and use zooming. Some of your images need perspective correction to get the vertical lines really vertical.
