The Internet Archive Book Images collection is a set released in August 2014 of 2.4 million images identified in books scanned by the Internet Archive (with more to follow), uploaded to Flickr.

This page is to establish a project parallel to that working on the similar Commons:British Library/Mechanical Curator collection, a set of 1 million images uploaded by the British Library in November 2013.
To specify searches at Flickr on the IA Book Images collection, use w=126377022@N07, compared to w=12403504@N02 for the Mechanical Curator.

Initial project requirements[edit]
Like the Mechanical Curator project, the IA images project is likely to require:
templates[edit]
- A source template, similar to {{Mechanical Curator image}}, to identify images from this source, and act as a container for appropriate link-backs to the image in the book, the image on Flickr, the image set for the book on Flickr, and the book on the IA.
- An ingestion script, similar to {{Commons:British Library/Mechanical Curator collection/script}}, to automatically load an {{Artwork}} template with the appropriate parameters
- A category header template, similar to {{BL1million bookcat}} to add a link back to the book on IA and the image set for the book on Flickr. In time this may be replaced with a more detailed template, drawing structured data about the book from Wikidata, but that is probably not possible until early 2015.

- A tracking category for all images uploaded from the IA Flickr collection, similar to Category:Images from the British Library Mechanical Curator collection
